August 10, 2021 by Casey Hayes Leave a Comment

Human games are one of the most useful and healthy entertainment activities. We can’t help but mention one of them is the run sheep run game, which is quite popular in some parts of the US. This game is not only for adults, but even children can participate.

The participants of the run sheep run game will be divided into two teams, the sheep team and the fox team. The positions will change in this game.

In the group of sheep, choose one person as “Old Ram.” This is the leader to make decisions later. And this leader will also guide everyone in the team where and how to run during the game.

If you do not know how to play the game, you can refer to the detailed article to apply to your group of friends.

Game’s Requirements

To have a good experience when playing the game, please follow the requirements and understand the nature of the game.

Regarding the number of players, this game does not require a specific number. People should be able to divide the team easily. The best number of players is between 10 and 16 people. In addition, the game does not require any other tools.

Setup The Game

Traffic-Jam
A multi-ethnic group of elementary age children are playing outside during recess. They are running through a grassy field and are playing tag.

Before starting the game, share the rules of the game with each member of the group. Because, in the process of taking turns, if your team has one person breaking the rules, the whole team will lose.

To help everyone understand better, you can use one play as an example for all to grasp. It will be difficult for children to understand the law if you just talk about common sense.

Next, you choose any two areas to mark “sheep barn” and “fox cave”. Once the setup is complete, start the game.

How To Play Run Sheep Run Game

In terms of rules, this game is quite similar to hide and seek. But here, you will hide in teams and have a leader. Here are the laws of the game and a few specific rules of run sheep run.

Rules of team division

The first is the division of teams, and each group is divided into two sections of an equal number of people. In it, a group named sheep, and the other group is foxes.

Rules of naming

“Old Ram” is the name of the leader of the sheep team.

Meanwhile, the fox leader will be called “Fox King.”

The remaining members of the sheep team are called “sheep”; and the fox team is called “fox”.

Member’s Duties

According to the law, old Ram will take all the sheep to run away somewhere. After that, old Ram returned the wolves to calculate the right time for the sheep to return to the barn.

The sheep will have to hide together under the guidance of old Ram for the entire turn. If you separate a sheep, it means breaking the game’s rules; At this point, the sheep team will lose.

As for the foxes, Fox King will lead the foxes to find the sheep that have escaped. Of course, the foxes will include old Ram.

The remaining foxes are tasked with following the Fox King and observing to find sheep. The fox did not look for the sheep until old Ram returned and was in the fox’s formation.

Specific gameplay

After the old Ram finds a place for the sheep to hide, the Old Ram will return with the foxes. While the fox searches, the old Ram will observe and analyze a good chance of safely getting the sheep back to the barn.

That is to say, aiming for a sheep that is not caught by the accused, old Ram will scream, “run, sheep, run.”

Both the fox and the sheep will race each other to the sheep pen the fastest. If the sheep return to the barn first, they will now change their role to the fox, and the old Ram will become the Fox King. Conversely, if the fox comes first, the position will be the same.

It goes on like this until the team that gets back to the barn the fastest three times wins.

Game Tips

To make the game more interesting and more likely to win, you can refer to our tips below:

  • Choose an area with lots of hiding places. Then the sheep will hide more easily.
  • Zoning the area before playing. That is, it is only allowed to hide to a certain extent. The zoning is to prevent the sheep from going too far and hindering the wolf’s search.
  • Choose an adult as the leader, especially someone with a strong voice. Because when shouting “run, sheep, run,” sheep will hear easily.
  • Choose a house as a sheep barn for convenience.
  • Limit playing to too many people because it is difficult to control; they will not be happy if few people join.

Some Warnings

  • Although running sheep is a very rewarding game, you must also pay attention to the following warnings to protect yourself.
  • Do not play games near the road because when you run on the road, the vehicle may cause an accident for you.
  • Do not pull or push the runner in front of the runner behind you. During the run, if you touch other people, they may stumble.
